Director of IT placement after seven months of failed attempts by national service firms

Challenge

In 2010, this industry leading client began the process of hiring several high-level candidates for their information technology department.

After seven months of working under contract with national service firms who continually presented sub-par candidates, they opened the search to local firms. Our client needed to fill this key position as soon as possible, as the absence of this technology leader hindered their ability to function efficiently.  In the winter of 2010, LaSalle Network began recruiting for the director of IT infrastructure.

Identify – Candidates with eight to 10 years experience managing and creating new IT infrastructure with keen listening skills and personality to transform how technology is viewed within the organization
Qualify – Candidates with a specific salary range, management of four or more direct reports, as well as an on-site team, and experience overseeing relocation of infrastructure
Deliver – Candidates to be interviewed and start as soon as possible

Solutions

LaSalle Network developed a specific sourcing and recruitment strategy to identity top talent in the area of infrastructure services.

The recruitment strategy consisted of the following:

  • Referral Networks – LaSalle was founded on the simple concept of networking with job seekers, colleagues, associations and organizations to uncover passive candidates. To address our client’s high level IT need, LaSalle Network’s project managers tapped their network of Chicagoland technology leaders and C-level executives to connect with stellar candidates
  • Direct Sourcing – LaSalle Network’s project managers identified top Chicagoland companies with well-established IT talent via LinkedIn and subsequently focused recruiting efforts on acquiring these top IT candidates for our client. These efforts resulted in netting six competitive and highly desirable director level IT candidates, three of whom we presented for the opportunity

Results

In order to provide immediate relief to our client’s floundering IT department, LaSalle presented a candidate with over 17 years experience  in information technology from a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company. Our candidate provided not only the high level of expertise needed to manage all our client’s infrastructure services, including the relocation to a new facility, but extensive industry experience and the personality to turn around the negative perception of IT within the company. In two months, LaSalle’s candidate was hired, setting our client’s IT department back on track after seven months of failure from national staffing firms.
