For the last nine years, LaSalle Network has surveyed graduating classes to understand their evolving priorities and motivators when it comes to their first job and company post-college.
In April 2024, we surveyed 1,500 graduates from the Class of 2024, the first freshmen class to start college at the peak of COVID-19. The global pandemic fundamentally reshaped the college experience for millions, and consequently, reshaped this cohort’s perspective on work, as well.
Here are some key findings from the report:
- Graduates are prioritizing community and connection over compensation.
- The Class of 2024 is focused on career development and growth, and the data indicates they believe the path to growth means changing companies early on in their career
- Recent grads are more open to contract employment than previous cohorts, indicative of the current economic climate, but also signaling more flexibility by this Class
