Hospital Certified Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities:
- Dispense and deliver medications accurately and timely, demonstrating competence with department automated dispensing and storage devices. Troubleshoot dispensing issues as needed
- Prepare non-sterile and sterile products accurately, in a timely manner and in compliance with USP standards
- Enter medication orders accurately into the computer system and/or navigate the electronic medical record effectively to facilitate patient care
- Utilize automation and technology to maintain equipment in optimal working condition, perform job functions efficiently and serve as a resource for other pharmacy associates and nursing staff
- Address concerns from customers and team members promptly and accurately. Handle phone calls from nurses, physicians or patients by understanding and resolving issues or escalating to the appropriate team member
- Assist in training and sharing knowledge with pharmacy team members, residents and students, ensuring adherence to policy, procedures and general standards of pharmacy practice
- Actively support and participate in departmental initiatives, including performance improvement activities, department committees and shared governance activities
Hospital Certified Pharmacy Technician Requirements:
- 1+ year of Pharmacy Technician experience in a hospital setting
- Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician Licensure and Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB or ExCPT
