Procurement Specialist Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify potential suppliers, both local and international, that meet the company’s needs for quality, price and delivery
- Conduct market research to evaluate new sourcing opportunities and trends, ensuring a diverse and competitive supplier base
- Build and maintain a strategic supplier network to meet current and future business needs
- Conduct thorough evaluations of suppliers, assessing their capabilities, financial stability and compliance with industry standards
- Initiate and manage supplier qualification processes to ensure high standards of quality, service and ethical practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the suitability of suppliers based on project requirements
- Lead the negotiation of contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company while maintaining positive supplier relationships
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, payment terms and performance guarantees to optimize cost efficiency and mitigate risk
- Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure all contracts adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements
- Develop and execute supplier contracts, ensuring clarity and compliance with all terms agreed upon
- Monitor contract performance to ensure suppliers meet agreed-upon quality and delivery benchmarks
- Regularly review contracts and suggest renegotiations or amendments based on changing market conditions or internal requirements
- Collect, analyze and report on procurement data, including supplier performance, pricing trends and delivery times
- Use data-driven insights to identify cost-saving opportunities, inefficiencies and areas for improvement
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as supplier reliability, quality compliance and total cost of ownership
- Provide regular reports on procurement activities, including savings, cost avoidance and supplier performance evaluations
- Develop cost models to help identify optimal sourcing strategies and measure the impact of procurement decisions on the company’s bottom line
- Leverage analytical tools and software to forecast trends and assess supplier competitiveness
- Recommend and implement process improvements based on data analysis and market intelligence
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure procurement strategies align with business objectives and operational needs
- Stay up-to-date with market conditions, supplier innovations and best practices in sourcing and procurement to maintain a competitive edge
Procurement Specialist Requirements:
- Must have experience in maintaining Ariba Purchase to Pay (P2P) systems. Must have experience in pulling data from ERP systems such as SAP
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with internal customers and external vendors
- Strong cognitive thinking with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPS, IF Statements and Pivot Tables
- Capable of extracting and analyzing data from company’s systems
