Project Accountant Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounting for 15-20 projects, handling full-cycle project accounting, including billing and pay applications
- Prepare and review G702/G703 pay applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project guidelines
- Work directly with Project Managers on assigned projects, collaborating on project progress, financials and any required accounting adjustments
- Collaborate with clients on receivables, manage lien waiver collection and ensure timely payment to subcontractors
- Handle change orders, contract adjustments and monitor compliance with project terms
- Support month-end close processes for project accounts, providing insights to senior management
- Work primarily within Sage and Excel (basic functions) for project accounting and financial tracking
Project Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred but not required
- 3+ years of project accounting experience, ideally in construction, though experience in related fields like architecture is also welcome
- Hands-on experience with G702/G703 pay application forms and a strong understanding of lien waivers
- Familiarity with Sage software is a plus
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to process improvement
