A family-owned real estate investment, development and construction firm is looking to hire a Senior Property Accountant to join their accounting and finance team in Dallas, TX. This company has been around for over 20 years and has doubled their portfolio twice over the past three years.  
 
The ideal candidate for this Senior Property Accountant role has at least three years of experience in property management accounting and is hungry to be a part of a rapidly growing organization, as well as a tight-knit team. Senior Property Accountant Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain knowledge of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit regulations and compliance standards, and timely and accurate monthly accounting reports and financial statements 
  • Compile monthly reporting packages to send to property stakeholders 
  • Review monthly close procedures performed by Property Management 
  • Manage communication with Property Management and assist with accounting-related items 
  • Assist Accounts Payable department by ensuring proper coding of invoices 
  • Prepare quarterly and annual accounting reports in a timely manner 
  • Communicate effectively with property stakeholders and prepare and provide ad hoc items requested by those stakeholders 
  • Prepare annual audit documentation and manage communication with auditors 
  • Prepare and post monthly and annual journal entries and maintain all General Ledger aspects for all properties in assigned portfolio 
  • Track and obtain items needed to request capital contributions 
  • Prepare surplus cash waterfalls annually for stabilized properties 
  • Assist as needed with other accounting functions, including but not limited to treasury management, corporate accounting and more 

Senior Property Accountant Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required 
  • 3+ years of full cycle accounting experience 
  • Property accounting experience required, preferably with multi-family residential properties.  
  • LIHTC helpful
  • Solid knowledge of Excel
