LaSalle Network is hiring on behalf of a reputable construction and engineering firm seeking a Payroll Compliance Specialist to join their Aurora, CO team. This firm provides a comprehensive suite of services that includes everything from design and construction to ongoing maintenance and repair. Their business model focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions for large and complex projects.

The Payroll Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with all federal, state and local labor laws and regulations. This includes managing employee relations, conducting audits, overseeing wage and hour compliance and providing guidance on labor-related legal issues. The specialist will play a key role in promoting a compliant, fair and respectful work environment.

Payroll Compliance Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Stay updated on federal, state and local labor laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, OSHA, ADA, FMLA, EEOC guidelines)
  • Ensure organizational compliance with labor regulations, including wage and hour laws, employee classifications, overtime pay and break requirements
  • Review and advise on changes to labor laws and regulations to ensure the organization remains compliant
  • Provide guidance and training to managers and employees on policies regarding workplace behavior, discrimination, harassment and conflict resolution
  • Ensure proper classification of employees (exempt vs. non-exempt) and adherence to overtime and minimum wage laws
  • Review timekeeping practices and systems to ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations
  • Perform audits of payroll practices to identify potential violations or discrepancies
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for governmental inspections or investigations

Payroll Compliance Specialist Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law or a related field required. Master's degree or certification in Labor Relations or Compliance is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in labor compliance, human resources or a related field
  • Certified payroll experience required
  • Experience working with labor laws and regulations (DBA, prevailing wage)
  • Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, employee classification and overtime regulations
