Benefits and Payroll Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee selection, administration, and optimization of employee benefits programs, including healthcare, retirement, wellness initiatives, and open enrollment processes
- Assist in compensation planning, including market analysis, benchmarking, merit increases, bonus payouts, budget reconciliation, compliance, and HRIS updates
- Conduct regular benchmarking to maintain competitive compensation and benefits packages
- Develop communication strategies to educate employees and leaders about total rewards programs
- Manage vendor relationships to optimize costs and service quality
- Oversee payroll processes, including tax management, reporting, and compliance
- Manage all aspects of the 401(k) plan, including audits, compliance reporting, and quarterly meetings
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, including ACA and Department of Labor audits
- Collaborate with finance and HR leadership to support the annual HR budget process
- Maintain and update the employee handbook to reflect current policies and legal requirements
- Utilize data analytics to evaluate and improve compensation, benefits, and operational programs
- Oversee compliance audits for workers' compensation, benefits, and payroll, ensuring accuracy and readiness
- Administer volunteer and reward and recognition initiatives to foster employee engagement
Benefits and Payroll Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., CCP, CEBS) preferred
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience in compensation, benefits, payroll, and compliance
- Proven success in designing and implementing total rewards strategies
- Experience in private equity or investment management environments is highly desirable
- Expertise in HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP)
- Strong knowledge of compensation methodologies, market analysis, and regulatory compliance
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive strategic decisions
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
