We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager– Manufacturing to oversee cost accounting activities and help optimize financial processes within our client’s organization. This role will manage a team responsible for maintaining cost accuracy, conducting variance analysis and enhancing cost accounting methods. Expertise in PeopleSoft is essential to support our client’s financial systems effectively and to ensure smooth data management and reporting processes.
Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of cost accounting, including product costing, variance analysis and budgeting processes
- Manage month-end close activities related to cost accounting, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Perform cost analysis and create reports to support business decisions, optimize production costs, and improve profit margins
- Lead cost variance investigations and work closely with manufacturing, engineering and procurement teams to identify areas for cost control and process improvement
- Review and monitor inventory valuation, ensuring accurate cost allocation to maintain cost control
- Support the annual budgeting process and provide detailed cost analysis for forecasting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cost accounting methodologies, ensuring best practices and compliance with company policies and GAAP
- Maintain and optimize PeopleSoft financial modules to streamline cost accounting processes and ensure data integrity
- Provide PeopleSoft expertise, assisting in system upgrades, testing and troubleshooting as needed
- Train, mentor and develop team members, ensuring high standards of accuracy, efficiency and compliance
Accounting Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA or CMA preferred
- 5+ years of experience in cost accounting ideally in the manufacturing industry
- Proven expertise with PeopleSoft financial modules and experience in maintaining and optimizing system functionalities
- Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles, including product costing and variance analysis
- Proficient in MS Excel, with advanced data analysis capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments
- Strong analytical skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
