Accounts Payable Specialist Responsibilities:
- Process and manage a high volume of invoices for goods and services related to the oil and gas industry, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and industry regulations
- Review and verify invoices, purchase orders, and contracts to ensure proper documentation and approval before payment
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner
- Prepare and process payment runs, including electronic funds transfers, checks and ACH payments
- Maintain and update vendor records, ensuring all contact and payment information is current
- Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, project management, etc.) to ensure accurate coding of expenses and timely invoice resolution
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciling accounts payable subledger to the general ledger
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards
- Handle inquiries from vendors, internal departments, and external auditors as needed
- Assist with ad-hoc accounting tasks and projects as required
Accounts Payable Specialist Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in accounts payable, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in the oil and gas industry
- Knowledge of industry-specific accounting practices, terminology, and software (e.g., OpenInvoice, SAP, or other oil and gas-specific ERP systems)
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and best practices
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software applications
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve discrepancies and issues effectively
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
