Accounts Receivable/Cash Applications Specialist Responsibilities:
- Process cash applications promptly, including wire transfers, ACH payments and checks, ensuring accuracy in daily cash reports
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to cash receipts, customer account balances and outstanding invoices
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding payment issues, discrepancies, short payments and other related inquiries
- Reconcile incoming payments with customer invoices and statements to ensure accuracy
- Obtain proper authorization for all customer deductions and collaborate with other departments to ensure corrective actions are taken
- Accurately code customer deductions and maintain clear records
- Proactively reach out to customers to identify potential payment concerns before they become overdue
- Work closely with the accounts receivable team, sales and customer service to ensure smooth payment processing and account management
- Maintain clear and accurate records of all cash application activities and communications
Accounts Receivable/Cash Applications Specialist Requirements:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable and cash application
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; prior experience with MS Dynamics or Great Plains is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to reconcile complex accounts
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Quick to learn and apply new technology and procedures
- Need to be able to commute to downtown Chicago 3 days a week
