About the Role:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and strategic Benefits Manager to join our growing HR team in Downtown Chicago. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, communication, and administration of employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance and aligning offerings with company goals. This is a key position requiring both technical expertise and a people-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), wellness initiatives, and leave of absence policies

  • Evaluate and recommend benefit plan changes and enhancements to remain competitive and cost-effective

  • Partner with external vendors and brokers to negotiate plans, handle renewals, and resolve service issues

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on all benefit-related inquiries, providing support to employees and HR team members

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, etc.)

  • Oversee benefits enrollment processes, both during open enrollment and new hire onboarding

  • Create clear, employee-focused communication materials and conduct benefits-related presentations

  • Analyze data and metrics to assess plan utilization and employee engagement with benefits offerings

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in employee benefits administration

  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws and compliance requirements

  • Proven experience managing vendor relationships and plan renewals

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, or similar)

Preferred:

  • CEBS or similar HR/benefits certification

  • Experience in a mid-to-large-sized organization
