Benefits Specialist Responsibilities:
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans
- Provide employees with information and guidance on benefits offerings, eligibility, and enrollment procedures
- Respond to employee inquiries related to benefits, resolve issues, and escalate as necessary
- Process benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ACA, ERISA, and COBRA requirements
- Maintain accurate employee benefits records and track eligibility status
- Work closely with insurance carriers and vendors to manage benefits programs and resolve any issues
- Assist in open enrollment periods and communicate important information to employees.
- Conduct benefits orientation sessions for new hires
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of benefits programs and recommend improvements as needed
- Prepare and maintain reports related to employee benefits and utilization trends
- Stay up-to-date on changes in benefits laws and regulations, ensuring organizational compliance
Benefits Specialist Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR function
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, regulations, and compliance requirements (e.g., ACA, FMLA, COBRA, ERISA)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information to employees
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in processing data and documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with employee benefits software and systems
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in benefits management
