LaSalle Network has partnered with a leading provider of innovative electrical solutions, and they are seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to join their team in Itasca, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all cost accounting activities, ensuring accurate cost allocation and providing detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role requires a deep understanding of cost accounting principles, strong analytical skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.
Cost Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the cost accounting functions including, but not limited to, job costing, standard costing and variance analysis
- Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems and procedures
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Provide detailed cost analysis and financial reporting to senior management
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insight into cost trends and potential areas for cost reduction
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Supervise physical inventory counts and cycle counts
- Analyze inventory valuations and manage inventory reserves
- Coordinate with production and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory records
- Manage, mentor and develop the cost accounting team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
- Provide training and support to team members on cost accounting practices and systems
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures
- Maintain and enforce proper internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings
Cost Accounting Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related business field
- 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within the manufacturing industry
- Proven experience managing and developing a team
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in NetSuite a plus and advanced Excel skills
