We are partnered with a leading household brand with multiple facilities across North America, specializing in innovative thermoforming solutions for diverse industries. With a strong commitment to operational excellence and sustainable practices, our client is embarking on an exciting growth journey. To support this trajectory, we are seeking a visionary Director of Engineering to lead and elevate their engineering function across all locations.

This is a newly created position where we’re looking for someone with a solid knowledge of both thermoforming and plastics experience. This role will oversee a large and talented team of engineers and technical professionals, driving innovation, standardization and efficiency across our client’s facilities. Being a member of senior leadership, this role will shape the engineering strategy and play a pivotal role in the success of operations. This position requires an experienced leader with in-depth knowledge of thermoforming processes and machinery and the ability to relocate to the corporate headquarters.

Director of Engineering Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor and develop a large, multi-site engineering team to achieve peak performance
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and accountability
  • Develop and implement a unified engineering strategy across all North American facilities
  • Standardize processes, equipment and best practices to drive consistency and efficiency
  • Oversee the design, optimization and maintenance of thermoforming processes and machinery
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure maximum uptime and productivity across facilities
  • Lead initiatives to improve product quality, reduce costs and increase production efficiency
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge
  • Work closely with R&D, supply chain and manufacturing teams to support new product development and production scaling
  • Serve as the primary engineering liaison to corporate leadership and contribute to company-wide strategic planning

Director of Engineering Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Plastics Engineering preferred). Master’s degree is a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Expertise in thermoforming processes and equipment is required
  • Proven experience managing large, geographically dispersed teams
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels
  • Willingness to relocate to the corporate office location (relocation assistance provided)
