Director of Corporate Accounting Responsibilities:
- Spearhead accounting activities for a diverse portfolio, focusing on residential and multi-family properties with some integrated retail elements
- Provide accounting guidance across two key divisions—scattered sites (6-7k units) and midrise/high-rise buildings (3k units)—delivering clear insights to enhance operational outcomes
- Build and lead a high-performing accounting team, setting ambitious goals and fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth
- Oversee and effectively collaborate with offshore accounting teams, ensuring efficient, accurate and accountable support on key tasks
- Lead annual budgeting, ensuring financial accuracy and strategic alignment with the company’s growth goals
- Audit and oversee daily accounting functions, maintaining involvement as needed to ensure high standards and integrity in financial reporting
- Develop, refine and implement SOPs that streamline processes, improve efficiencies and support operational excellence
- Ensure accurate cash & accrual basis accounting practices, with a focus on month-end close (MEC) procedures for a seamless financial cycle
Director of Corporate Accounting Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Prior experience in accounting for residential real estate is essential, with a strong preference for larger or national firm experience
- Proven ability to manage a team of 3+ individuals, with a passion for mentoring and developing talent
- Demonstrated experience in budget creation, management and financial oversight
- Familiarity with Yardi and enthusiasm for exploring new technologies to drive data-driven decisions
- Previous experience managing offshore accounting teams and ensuring they meet performance expectations
- Ability to create and implement SOPs to support a consistent, efficient and high-quality accounting operation
