Join our clients' dynamic team as a Health & Safety Manager, a critical role supporting our client’s Easton, Maine food manufacturing plant. With over 400 employees, this plant is a hub of activity and safety is a top priority. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the wellbeing of the staff, working closely with leadership and the entire workforce to foster a culture of safety. This Health & Safety Manager will lead a small Health & Safety team, so previous people management experience is required.
With the growth of the Easton plant, the importance of this role has become evident. They need someone who is passionate about safety, eager to contribute and ready to take on challenges. Your efforts will be vital in maintaining a safe work environment and supporting employees.
The ideal candidate is proactive, excels in project management and data analysis and is comfortable leading both tactical and strategic health and safety projects. Health & Safety Manager Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a Health & Safety Coordinator
- Conduct and interpret risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
- Stay updated on regulations and ensure compliance with all health and safety policies
- Build relationships with various department leaders to validate and transition systems, like lockout/tagout
- Lead and manage health and safety projects from inception to completion, and delegate tasks to the team accordingly
- Analyze safety data, create reports and lead meetings to communicate findings and recommendations effectively
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate records of health and safety activities, incidents and compliance efforts
- Address safety concerns and develop practical solutions to enhance workplace safety
- Leverage Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies to drive safety enhancements
Health & Safety Manager Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in the health and safety space
- People management experience
- Must come from a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Federal and State safety requirements
- Proficiency with all Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Data-driven and analytical with a strong sense of time management
- Degree preferred, but not required
- Strong preference for any safety certifications
