Inpatient Coding Specialist Responsibilities:
- Review and accurately code inpatient charts using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS
- Abstract clinical data and ensure accurate DRG assignment
- Maintain productivity and quality standards in alignment with department expectations
- Communicate with CDI and other departments to clarify documentation as needed
- Adhere to official coding guidelines and organizational policies
Inpatient Coding Specialist Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience required
- Active AHIMA or AAPC certification (CCS, RHIT, or CPC-H preferred)
- Strong knowledge of coding guidelines, DRG validation, and documentation standards
- Prior experience with EPIC, 3M Encoder, or Meditech preferred
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and analytical skills
