LaSalle Network has partnered with a medical provider in their search for an Inpatient Facility Coder. The Inpatient Facility Coder will be responsible for accurately coding inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and pathophysiology, as well as the ability to ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines. This position requires a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification and a minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding experience.
Inpatient Facility Coder Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze inpatient medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for coding
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to inpatient records
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with established guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding discrepancies
- Participate in regular coding audits and quality assurance activities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and industry best practices
- Meet productivity and accuracy standards as established by the coding department
Inpatient Facility Coder Requirements:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification is required
- 2+ years of inpatient coding experience
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and pathophysiology
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software
