Interim Credit & Collections Manager

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Interim Credit and Collections Manager to join the reputable Consumer Packaged Goods client located in Chicago, IL. In this interim role, you will be responsible for managing the credit and collections functions, ensuring timely collection of outstanding receivables and minimizing credit risk exposure. This is a temporary position with the potential for extension based on business needs. 

Interim Credit & Collections Manager Responsibilities: 

• Manage a team of 7 AR Analysts wo are responsible for the end-to-end credit and collections process, including evaluating creditworthiness, establishing credit limits, and monitoring customer accounts 

• Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to mitigate credit risk while maximizing sales opportunities 

• Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve escalated billing and payment discrepancies and address customer inquiries in a timely manner 

• Coach team members on how to negotiate payment terms and repayment plans with delinquent customers to facilitate debt recovery and maintain positive customer relationships 

• Prepare and present regular reports on accounts receivable performance, aging analysis and credit risk exposure to senior management 

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement efficiency initiatives to streamline credit and collections operations 

Interim Credit & Collections Manager Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field 

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in credit and collections, 3 years minimum at the management level 

• Strong understanding of credit principles, risk assessment methodologies, and collection strategies 

• Proficiency in credit analysis tools and accounting software, ideally SAP 

• Advanced Excel knowledge required, particularly PivotTables and VLOOKUPS 

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders 

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities 

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
