The Manufacturing Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations within the plant, ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost control, budgeting, and compliance with accounting standards. This individual will provide financial leadership and insights to drive operational efficiency, manage costs, and support strategic decision-making for plant management.
This position is based full-time in Louisville, KY and offers relocation services.
Manufacturing Controller Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate accounting standards
- Analyze financial performance against budgeted or forecasted figures, providing insights and explanations for variances
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost of goods sold, inventory turnover, and operating expenses
- Provide regular financial reports to plant leadership and senior management, highlighting trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
- Oversee cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of direct labor, materials, overheads, and finished goods
- Lead cost reduction initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve margins without compromising quality
- Collaborate with plant leadership and the finance team to develop annual budgets, including production, labor, material, and overhead costs
- Lead the forecasting process, providing monthly updates and adjustments to ensure the plant operates within budgeted parameters
- Monitor and assess the financial impact of production schedules, staffing levels, and inventory management, adjusting forecasts as necessary
- Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation of financial records
- Provide financial guidance and support to plant management on operational decision-making, including capital investments, production planning, and cost management
- Manage a team of accountants and financial analysts, ensuring they are well-equipped to execute day-to-day financial functions
- Oversee the management of capital expenditures for plant operations, ensuring proper budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Manufacturing Controller Responsibilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification is a plus
- 10+ years of accounting experience
- 3+ years of people management experience required
- Previous experience in a plant controller or similar accounting role within a consumer goods or manufacturing company required
- Experience working knowledge of SAP
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling tools
- Knowledge of financial regulations and standards (e.g., GAAP, SOX)
