Non-Profit Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Full Month-End Close – Maintain a 15-day close process and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Financial Operations Leadership – Work alongside the HR Director, IT Director, COO, and other senior leaders within the Operations Team.
  • People Management – Start with 1 direct report (part-time bookkeeper) and hire a full-time Junior Accountant once onboarded.
  • Process Improvement – Identify ways to streamline accounting processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and maximize Sage software functionality.
  • Grant & Compliance Support – Collaborate with the Director of Budgeting & Compliance to manage grant-funded revenue (state, foundations, corporations).
  • Audit & Compliance – Work with Miller Cooper (accounting partner) to maintain financial integrity and compliance; ensure continued clean financial audits.
  • Fiscal Year-End: Lead year-end close and reporting processes (Fiscal Year-End: June 30).

Non-Profit Accounting Manager Requirements:
  • Full month-end close experience and ownership of accounting processes.
  • Experience improving financial processes (e.g., automation, system enhancements, efficiency improvements).
  • Industry background in nonprofit or higher education preferred, but open to corporate experience as well.
  • Desire to lead and manage a team – prior people management experience preferred, but not required.
