Reimbursement Specialist Responsibilities:
- Review, process, and submit claims for IRF, LTACH, or OP services in accordance with payer requirements
- Ensure accurate coding and billing practices to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials
- Investigate and resolve claim denials, underpayments, and rejections by working with payers and internal teams
- Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines specific to post-acute care settings
- Assist in audits, appeals, and compliance reviews to ensure regulatory adherence
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure proper documentation supports billing and reimbursement
- Monitor and analyze reimbursement trends and identify opportunities for process improvements
Reimbursement Specialist Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare reimbursement, medical billing, or revenue cycle management within an IRF, LTACH, or OP setting
- High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, or related field preferred
- Proficiency in EHR/EMR systems, medical billing software, and Microsoft Office Suite
- CMS guidelines, payer policies, DRG/APC payment methodologies, and revenue cycle operations
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills
