We are an innovative and rapidly growing biotech and pharmaceutical company located in Batavia, IL. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. Must be local to Chicagoland area and willing to be on-site.

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing the company’s financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This individual will work closely with the finance team and senior leadership to support the organization’s growth, optimize financial performance, and ensure accurate reporting.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Oversee the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger, ensuring proper posting of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making and recommend improvements to processes, controls, and profitability
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with department heads and senior management
  • Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, ensuring the timely and accurate submission of required documentation
  • Perform and review reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., R&D, Operations, Sales) to provide financial insight and support strategic initiatives
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, ensuring development opportunities and fostering a collaborative work environment

Senior Accountant Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role. Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting software (experience with SAP, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems preferred)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of financial management
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, and evolving environment
  • Advanced Excel skills required; familiarity with ERP and accounting software is a plus
