This role will focus on enhancing internal reporting, ensuring financial accountability on active projects, and improving the integration between operational and accounting systems. The ideal candidate will bring a sense of urgency, deep construction industry knowledge, and a strong understanding of project-based accounting.
Senior Construction Accountant Responsibilities:
- Support month-end close and prepare financial reports to assist in bank-related underwriting processes.
- Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and review lien waivers.
- Reconcile job cost activity and ensure accuracy of financial data between systems.
- Collaborate with the Finance Director to streamline internal workflows and improve reporting accuracy.
- Assist with AP invoice review and approvals through a routing and documentation platform.
- Input and reconcile AR activity associated with monthly draws and pay applications.
- Act as a resource to ensure expenses are properly aligned with approved jobs and project timelines.
- Using Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate – for financials, reporting, AP/AR entries, and job costing.
- Using HH2 – for AP invoice approvals, routing, and documentation.
- Using Procore – for contracts, draws, and project budgeting.
Senior Construction Accountant – Requirements:
- Prior background in a construction accounting is required
- Strong month-end close knowledge and an ability to manage complex project finances
- Experience with lien waivers, budgeting, and draw processes
- High attention to detail, with a solutions-oriented and collaborative mindset
- Strong communication skills and a confident approach to working cross-functionally
