Senior Project Accountant Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts and financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making
- Oversee project cost accounting, including tracking and analyzing job costs, ensuring accurate allocation of expenses and providing cost control recommendations
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation
- Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies
- Utilize Deltek software for project accounting, financial reporting and system improvements. Train and support team members in using Deltek effectively
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances and opportunities for financial performance improvement
- Work closely with project managers, department heads and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support business objectives
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations
Senior Project Accountant Requirements:
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience in the architecture, construction or engineering industries
- Proficiency in Deltek software is required. Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
- CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not required
