Small Company Controller Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including payroll, AP/AR, money transfers and investor distributions
- Prepare investor statements and financial reports on real estate deals, ensuring clarity and accuracy for stakeholders
- Handle tax return preparation for both trust and business accounts, streamlining the process to avoid the need for external accountants
- Create and maintain financial models to support investment decisions and asset management strategies
- Collaborate directly with the firm’s owner and work closely with clients and investors, maintaining a high level of professionalism in all interactions
Small Company Controller Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 10+ years of proven experience in full-cycle accounting, ideally within real estate or financial services industries
- Strong background in trust and business tax return preparation
- Skilled in financial modeling
- Detail-oriented with a positive, proactive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
