Specialty Coder Responsibilities:
- Review and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for services within General Surgery, Cardiology, and Anesthesia
- Analyze clinical documentation to ensure accurate code assignment and proper sequencing
- Maintain compliance with coding guidelines, payer-specific requirements, and federal regulations
- Work collaboratively with clinical staff and billing teams to resolve discrepancies and support clean claim submission
- Assist with denial resolution and coding audits as needed
Specialty Coder Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional coding experience, with strong proficiency in at least one of the following: General Surgery, Cardiology, or Anesthesia
- AAPC or AHIMA Certification required (not CPC-A eligible)
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and coding tools; experience with Epic and Optum Encoder a plus
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and compliance standards
- Must have access to a personal laptop and dual monitors
- Reliable internet connection and ability to work independently in a remote setting
