LaSalle Network’s 2022 10 Days of Giving

For the second year, LaSalle Network hosted our 10 Days of Giving! Our philanthropy committee, Community Champions, organized a packed agenda of virtual and in-person volunteer opportunities, from collecting more than 400 toys for children, making snowflakes with senior residents, repacking more than 11,000 pounds of food for those in need, stuffing more than 250 care packages for those going through chemotherapy and SO much more.

Below, we’re recapping the events and charities supported with links on how to get involved and help spread more cheer this holiday season.

Day 1: Toys for Tots

We kicked off the giving by supporting the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. The Toys for Tots program is run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve to distribute toys to children whose parents cannot afford them during the holiday season. Together, we collected more than 400 toys in support of their mission to ensure no child goes without a present this holiday season.

Day 2: Angel Tree

The giving continued as we supported The Salvation Army, a non-profit organization committed to helping more than 23 million Americans overcome poverty, addiction and economic hardships. LaSallians participated in the annual Angel Tree program to provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children across the country.

Day 3/4: Lemons of Love

LaSallians spent two days packing a total of 258 children’s care packages for Lemons of Love, an organization committed to helping those going through chemotherapy. Care packages were filled with body lotion, ChapStick, tissues, lemon drops, bottled water, and many other essential items to help recipients feel a little more comfortable during this difficult time.

Day 5: Sunrise Senior Living

Sunrise Senior Living invited us to take part in their winter activities, which consisted of making and hanging snowflakes, while spending time with senior residents who don’t have family close, or at all, to spend the holidays with.

Day 5: Chicago Food Depository

LaSallians helped sort and repack more than 11,000 pounds of food for the Chicago Food Depository, an organization that works to bring food, dignity and hope to those in need.

Day 6: Year Up

Another group of LaSallians conducted virtual mock interviews with students from Year Up, an organization that provides young adults with career and higher education opportunities. LaSalle has worked with Year Up for over eight years, partnering with students to assist with job preparations skills and job placement.

Day 7: Ann & Robert H. Children’s Hospital of Chicago

LaSallians answered donation calls as a part of the Ann & Robert H. Children’s Hospital of Chicago Radiothon, a live broadcast that raises funds in support of the patients and families at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Day 9: Best Buddies

A group of LaSallians got together to support Best Buddies, an organization focused on empowering people with intellectual and development disabilities. LaSallians took part in their virtual holiday party, playing festive games with members of Best Buddies in Chicago.

Day 10: The Animal Humane Society

LaSallians rounded out the 10 Days of Giving by coming together to donate items for the Animal Humane Society, which is one of the nation’s leading animal welfare organizations committed to helping animals in need.
